Exercise Cures Anxiety, Right?
Virtual Reality opens the door to endless means of creativity. With VR we can convey how we perceive the world around us in an immersive way or create an entirely different reality that exists within our minds. Virtual reality messes with human perception to a degree in which a dorm room can be transformed into a new world or an NBA basketball game.
Thus, the immersive quality of VR inspired me to take the viewer into the sacred action of exercise that many people perform on a regular basis. Exercise, and running, is an undervalued action in society. Although most are aware that it is needed to live a physically healthy life, exercise also repairs the mental state of a person. The energy released helps meditate the mind and place a refresh button on personal anxiety.[1]
Therefore, my project incorporated a VR experience of me running and walking while thinking through everyday thoughts of anxiety and worries. The music incorporated inspires me to push through stress and continue to use exercise as moments of stress relief.
